It’s been a while since I’ve blogged last, but I have good reason to be putting my fingers to the keyboard today. So much of me wants to be vulnerable with you right now and let you know that I have written and deleted these opening lines so many times because I’ve struggled to find the right sentiments for the emotions welling up inside of me. After 2 pregnancies, 2 years of research and writing, and another 6 months of building and tearing down…only to start over and try again, my passion project is finally ready for the world. Bebe Steps is here and I’m over the moon.
Let me take a second to explain that Bebe Steps is an online course and community that is designed to walk alongside women through all 9 months of pregnancy, offering guidance, information, community, and empowerment with videos, carefully curated checklists and worksheets, as well as PDF downloads and resources. We are not under the illusion that there isn’t enough information on the internet when it comes to pregnancy, it’s that there’s too much. Add in social media and the endless opinions of those who love the comment sections of the internet, and suddenly the small amount of “OMG I’M ACTUALLY PREGNANT” stress has been catapulted into the stratosphere and feelings of “Can I really do this?” are beginning to creep in.
The simple answer is yes you can. Never believe that you are anything but capable.
I know it’s going to be difficult for some of you to believe, but our society has become more hostile over the last decade. (Shocker, right?) Thanks to internet trolls, cyber-bullying, mom-shaming, differences in political and societal opinions, and basically anything else under the sun that you can think of (shouldn’t take a whole lot of effort I’m guessing), we have been pressured to conform and buckle under the unnecessary weight of an overly-opinionated world. What’s crazy is that motherhood, parenthood, and pregnancy have taken a large brunt of that criticism, crippling the confidence of soon-to-mothers everywhere. Bebe Steps aims to go toe-to-toe with that criticism and put minds at ease by keeping things simple and encouraging mothers right where they’re at.
Let me be super clear that I mean business. I want to give confidence and release undue pressure from mothers everywhere. I want to help educate and empower them to make the decisions that are right for them and their family. I want to breathe a new language into their hearts and minds that tells them they are brave, stronger than they have ever been, and that pregnancy and childbirth are one of the greatest gifts this life has to offer them.
I am passionate about raising up a new generation of mothers (and fathers, and children), that believes in the strength found inside of them and is able to unburden themselves with the negativity and insecurity that surrounds them. I am passionate about Bebe Steps being a community of people that holds each other up and pushes against fear.
That being said, I hope that you will at least check out my beautiful new website, sign up for the free informational videos I created, and promote a courageous motherhood to anyone you know that is either currently pregnant or wants to be pregnant. Follow us here as well as on Instagram (@bebesteps & @katemharris) and Facebook (Like our Bebe Steps page)! We would love to keep up with you and keep you up to date on everything!
